Reminder: Writers’ Conference April 16th

Calhoun Community College, in partnership with Decatur’s Princess Theatre, will present the Eighth Annual Writers’ Conference, Thursday, April 16, 2009, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Calhoun Community College’s Aerospace Training Center on the Decatur campus. An event also featuring this year’s author will be held at 7:00p.m. on the same day at the Princess Theatre.

This year’s featured writer is Michael Knight, author of the novel, Divining Rod, two collections of short fiction, Dogfight and Other Stories and Goodnight, Nobody and most recently, a collection of novellas, The Holiday Season. His fiction has appeared in places like Esquire, The New Yorker, Oxford American and Paris Review and has been anthologized in Best American Mystery Stories and New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best. He directs the Creative Writing program at the University of Tennessee.

Both events are open to the public. Admission to the event at Calhoun is free to all who attend. Admission to the Princess Theatre event is $10.00 for the general public; $5.00 for K-12 teachers and students (school I.D. required); and free to Calhoun faculty, staff, and students (Calhoun I.D. required).
