Fiat Lux, Fiat Latebra

Jessamyn West (Librarian.net) recently posted a link to a paper originally presented at the University of Alabama.  Fiat Lux, Fiat Latebra: A Celebration of Historical Library Functions by D.W. Krummel, while not an exhaustive history of libraries, does propose “Seven Ages of Librarianship” and explores the objectives and perceived functions of library institutions during each age.  Interesting reading.
